I love this time of year! I truly look forward to it all year long. I love to see the kids get so excited about their costumes. Carson has had his costume picked out for months now and has worn it every day since getting it. I told him today that I wanted to take his picture and proceeds to strike this Spiderman pose with the web thrower flying hot! That kid kills me! Callie loves her Snow White costume! Big shout out to my friend Jodie for making the awesome Snow White headband! It's a perfect replica and Callie hasn't taken it off! Thanks Jodie! :) Molly's is re-playing the little monkey costume from a couple of years ago. Love it!

Meeting An Angel

Several months ago I had the privilege of meeting and photographing the Andrade family. Lawrence and Aedra have three beautiful children, Iliana, Xavier and Santana, their youngest daughter. Santana was born with a very serious heart problem and tonight I learned that earlier this afternoon, surrounded by all of her family, Santana peacefully returned home after fighting a courageous battle. I have only spent a couple of hours with her but in that short time I came to know that I was in the presence of an angel. I feel honored and blessed to have been given the opportunity of photographing Santana and her sweet family and would like to share a few images of our session. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Look Who's Walking!

Yes! Molly baby is walking! I've found myself having mixed emotions over this. I love the new phase but so sad the first year is almost over! Next month she turns ONE! Hard to believe. Time seems to go by faster and faster each year! I had to share a few pics but please forgive the poor focus on the last two pics...I didn't have time to adjust my shutter speed...she's quick!

A Tea Party

Tea anyone? This little cutie is Miss E. LOVE her! She brought along her friends Franklin the turtle and Frankie the monkey for a tea party (pretty sure I mixed those up a few times during our shoot...whoops!). Her mom was such a great sport hauling all the furniture with her to our location! We had such a great time shooting at this quaint little orchard...until we were kicked out by some random guy. Thanks random guy. However, despite our being kicked out we still managed to get some really cute shots so it was totally worth it!

Two Years Old!

My little Callie girl turned 2! She's growing so fast...too fast. I had a little fun with labels as you will see and YES, my husband made fun of me! We enjoyed homemade pizzas, salad and caramel apples. YUM! The cake was created by the fabulous Kim Moore. She does such a great job...and maybe one day she will have her own website so everyone can enjoy her beautiful and delicious cakes (hint, hint)! Here are a few pictures from the party!

Callie's Grandma Jones gave her a stuffed animal...a cat to be exact. I don't think Callie saw any of her other presents after she opened that one. All she wanted to do was hold her cat and read a book with her Uncle Cameron. Too funny. Thankfully, her big brother and cousins like opening presents. They stepped up to help out!

Race for Ellie

Hey everyone! You may remember this little girl and her family that I photographed last year. Little Ellie Cason battles every day with both cancer (neuroblastoma) and a life threatening heart disease. This Saturday, Sept. 18th there is a 5K Fun Run/Walk in Farmington to help raise money for Ellie and her family in hopes of offsetting some of the huge financial burden due to Ellie's illness.

Check out Utah Hero Foundation for all the details. The race starts at 9 am. Registration begins at 8 am. There will also be a silent auction (you don't want to miss this!) along with bounce houses and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Come out and support this darling little girl and her family and lets help raise as much money as possible!!!

Spring Soccer

It doesn't get much better than Pre-K soccer. Half the kids are picking dandelions out of the grass, others are crying, and the rest are just happy to be there. Carson was more than happy to be there! I've never seen a kid smile through an entire game, but he sure did. He was a quick learner and loved scoring goals. I was one proud momma! Sledding Adventures

We decided to hit the sleds while the snow is still around. The kids had a great time. Callie, or Little Miss Independent as we like to call her, was determined to climb back up the hill on her own. Any help resulted in a tantrum. Exhibit A: photo 1. Carson is our wild man. The kid has no fear. We had a fun time and are hoping for a little more snow so that we can do this again! Also, there is a reason I rarely post a picture of myself...I am a cheese-ball at heart (see photo 3). Enjoy it because it will be a while before you see another one!!!

70 Years!

Not many of us will get the opportunity to celebrate 70 years of marriage. The Nelson's however, are one of the lucky ones. I had the privilege of photographing their celebration with family and friends. What a great family. The celebration included a touching slide show of their years together as well as their first wedding cake. I learned that they didn't have a wedding cake the day they were married so this was their first time ever cutting a wedding cake together. And, after 70 years they still have so much spunk! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day!

Pumpkin Patch

Our annual trip to the pumpkin patch is always fun and something we look forward to doing every year. This year I had one goal...keep up with Carson. Do ALL little boys give their mothers a run for their money? Because literally, he runs everywhere. He was on a mission to find the perfect pumpkin, which happened to be every pumpkin he stopped to look at. We may have ended up with a few too many pumpkins than we really needed. And then there's Callie who's just happy to be here. It's such a nice contrast!

My baby turned one! We celebreated Dr. Suess style with a crazy hat party and a topsy turvey birthday cake. The cake was awesome. My friend and co-worker Kim Moore made this fabulous cake. I was blown away by it. What a talent! She makes all kinds of cakes and custom orders! If you ever need a fun cake, let me know and I'll get you her number. So cool. Thanks Kim! Playing Catch-Up!

It's been a busy few weeks! I have been meaning to post some photos from recent sessions but keep being detoured from the computer (sick kids, planning a birthday party, photo shoots and sick kids). I'm so done with runny noses and coughs! So, here is a run down of the last few weeks!

First up, sweet baby A. So cute! Baby A is only 3 weeks old and I could not believe how strong he is.

Next up...The W family! I love this family. They are so much fun. I had a great time with you guys. Lots of new babies! This family had 4 babies born within 2(?) weeks of each other. They were all so cute. I think grandma and grandpa are staying plenty busy these days! Thanks for the fun time!

And last...for tonight anyway...baby J. Another sweet baby! Have I mentioned how much I love photographing babies? I love it! I love baby J's dark brown eyes. They are so gorgeous!

DIY MEMORY GAME

This one is for all you DIY Project warriors. I saw this idea on someone else's blog and totally high-jacked it! If it was your blog...thanks! Every now and then I like to get a little crafty but I too often get in over my head. This project, however, was so easy. It's a memory matching game for your kiddos (or yourself, whichever!). I love it because it's a quiet game. I'm so tired of the noisy toys! Anyone else? My 3 year old and I have been playing this all morning. He LOVES it! Score! Check it out! I made two. One for a boy and one for a girl.

What you will need:
16-square wooden pieces. Mine were 3"x3" (.39/ea at Roberts Crafts)
8-different scrapbook papers (2 squares from each paper)...perfect way to use up your scraps.
1-12x12 paper for the front in a plain pattern.
Mod Podge
Brush
paper cutter/scissors

How To:
Cut papers into 3x3 squares.
Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the wood.
Place paper on wood. Smooth out bubbles and press down edges.
Let dry and repeat on the other side.
Let it dry completely.
Sand edges for a smooth finish.
You can mod podge over the paper if you wish. I opted not to.
Start to finish: 30-45 minutes

Vwalla! There you have it. So fun and easy. They make great gifts too! Wrap a ribbon around it and give it to that no so crafty friend who would totally appreciate it!

I had the privilege of photographing the C family the other night. What a beautiful family! You would never know by looking at them what kind of struggles they have been through. Little baby E was born with a severe heart problem AND a very mean brain tumor. Three days after taking these pictures she had to undergo major heart surgery. Her second. The surgery went well and she is recovering with her family. They are not allowed to take her home to St. George yet so they have been living with relatives in Bountiful while seeking treatment at Primary Children's. Baby E is as beautiful as her big sisters. What heart breakers they will be! They are such a darling family. Thanks C family for allowing me to take your pictures!

Hello! I am Shana and this is my very first blog. I wanted a place to post my most recent work so I decided that a blog was the answer! But first, a little about me. I am originally from the Land of Enchantment...the great state of New Mexico (though, I'm still trying to figure out what is so enchanting or great about it). I am married to Ken (the most awesome husband a girl could ever hope for) and I have two darling kiddos. Carson (3) and Callie (10 mo.). I have my bachelors degree in Athletic Training and spend a couple days a week working as an athletic trainer for Jeffrey D.
