Angry Birds Birthday Party

Heads up in advance...this is a LONG post...and it's taken me forever to finally get it posted ;)

We had an awesome Angry Birds party for Carson's 7th B-day. To put it mildly, he was more than thrilled with it! I wanted to share some of the highlights of the party. Now, the problem with having a winter birthday in Utah is you can't guarantee that the weather will cooperate so most parties are held in doors. I say most because this party needed to be outdoors :)  I had my fingers crossed that we could play our games outside. We watched the weather for days hoping that there wouldn't be snow or wind and 3 days before the party we saw the storm! Ugh! The original plan was to create a life size angry birds course in the backyard complete with a slingshot and all! Needless to say I was more than discouraged with the weather report! Then...my sweet neighbor and dear friend offered us her "rec" room for the games! Whoo Hoo! Catastrophe averted! Thank you Amy! Here's some highlights of the party along with all the credits:

I came across this darling printable set online and used it for the invitation, banner and party favor bags. Best part was the price...Free!

First, we had to have a playable cake! I have seen these all over the internet and they are seriously cool. So, I talked to my friend Kim of  Creative Cakes by Kim (who has made several cakes for me in the past...more of those to come another day!) and she totally came through for me. The look on Carson 's face when he first saw the cake was the coolest. Made my day and all of the planning worth it!

These templates are seriously cool! I used them to create the party favor bags and balloons. The boys loved  them! We hung the balloons from the ceiling and used others to play our games with.

Party Favor Bags included:
Angry Birds pencils (local party store)
Angry Birds Stickers (Amazon)
Angry Birds Eyebrows and Mustaches (local party store)
Angry Bird notebooks (Walmart and this template)
Sugar Cookies by the fabulous Kim of Creative Cakes by Kim
Angry Bird Eggs (Sixlets from local party store)

The food for the party included nothing less than Angry Bird inspired foods. We had triangle shaped cheddar cheese for the Yellow Bird, strawberries for the Red Bird, green grapes for the Pigs, and pretzels for the towers. The goal was to have the boys build their own Angry Bird towers on their plates and they did not disappoint!

Seriously, aren't these cookies so cute?! Kim did such a great job. The most popular cookie among the boys was the pig.

Game Time!
We headed over to my dear friends house for 2 of the games

For weeks I collected boxes from my neighbors and friends and the boys had no idea what was in store for them as they walked in. I wish I could have videoed their reaction to this! They were dying! Boys, boxes, balls, balloons and destruction. They were all over this!

We set and reset the game several times so that everyone could play their hearts out and when it was time to move on we had the boys pretend that they were the Angry Birds. It made cleaning up a breeze. They did all the work for us ;)

Pop The Angry Bird
We played pop the Angry Bird with balloons and balls. The goal was to knock the balloons off the wall with a small ball.

Angry Bird Bowling:
2-liter bottles filled with a small amount of paint and an even smaller amount of water (shake...a lot!)

And there ya have it. The boys had a blast and I was exhausted! Mission accomplished.
